What is the purpose of this Mod ?

The Purpose is to have the beautiful sparkling Fire/Flame sprites from Lord Havocs
DPmod without any other DPmod content.
Reason behind this was, that I loved the new fire/flames but felt no need for the other
content from PDmod, so I extracted them and created a "standalone" mod for your pleasure.


How to use this Mod ?

For basic users/beginners: Extract the content (including folder structure) from this
ZIP archive to your Quake/ folder.
Play Quake with the shortcut: ...Quake\Darkplaces.exe -game newfire
For advanced users: Even though the Darkplaces engine allows mulitple "-game" variables,
I prefer to include the content in a additional pak file. So you dont need any "-game"
variables at all when starting Quake. To do it, create a pak file with the known structure
and copy this ZIP file content to it.


Any limitations ?

Yes, you can only see the beautiful new fire/flames in Episodes/Maps, which dont bring their
own progs.dat. At least for all the rest (and thats a lot !), you can enjoy it.


Any requirement ?

You must of course use the Darkplaces engine.
